West Roxbury Resident Nominated to Massachusetts Superior Court

Rosemary Connolly is one of two attorneys named to the court by Governor Charlie Baker.

WEST ROXBURY, MA - Gov. Charlie Baker nominated two new faces to the state Superior Court Tuesday, including one from West Roxbury.

Rosemary Connolly has 30 years of litigation experience, most recently serving in the U.S. Attorney's Office as Chief of its Civil Division. Since 2010 she has managed the division's 21 Assistant U.S. Attorneys while maintaining a private civil practice. Prior to that she worked in the Attorney General's Office and in private civil litigation, cultivating extensive trial experience in tort, employment, civil rights, eminent domain and contract disputes across Massachusetts.

Along with Connolly, Cohasset resident Joseph F. Leighton, Jr. was nominated to the Superior Court.

“These nominees’ knowledge of the law, integrity, temperament and willingness to work hard will allow for a smooth transition onto the Superior Court bench,” Gov. Baker said in a press release. “I am confident that Rosemary Connolly and Joseph Leighton’s extensive courtroom, negotiation and case management skills will serve the court well.”

Connolly and Leighton must still be confirmed by the Governor's Council. They stand to fill the seats vacated by the Honorable Frances A. McIntyre and the Honorable Diane M. Kottmyer, respectively.
