Where to Vote in West Roxbury: Super Tuesday Information

West Roxbury polling locations, voting hours, and other helpful information for this Tuesday.

WEST ROXBURY, MA - Super Tuesday is less than a week away and West Roxbury residents, as well as others throughout the state, will be heading to the polls to vote.

The Presidential Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 1.

Voters are encouraged to confirm their voter status and polling location by visiting the Secretary of State’s office online or by calling the Town Clerk’s office.

What You Need to Know about Party Affiliation

There are four political parties in Massachusetts:

  • D - Democratic Party
  • R - Republican Party
  • J - Green-Rainbow
  • CC - United Independent Party

When voting on March 1, 2016, voters who are enrolled in one of the above parties can only vote on the ballot for that party.

Voters who are unenrolled in a party (commonly known as “Independent”) will be listed on the voter list with the party code “U.” Unenrolled voters and voters who are members of Political Designations can choose which party’s ballot they would like to receive.

Residents had until Feb. 10 to change their party enrollment for the Presidential Primary.

Absentee Voting

Voters who are unable to vote on Election Day because of physical disability, religious beliefs or absence from the town may vote by absentee ballot.Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained from the Town Clerk or the Office of the Secretary of State.

Applications may be submitted in person or by mail. All absentee ballots must be mailed out so the Town Clerk reminds everyone to allow time for the ballot to be mailed to you so that you will get them in time for the election.Click Here for an application.

A “family member” may submit an application for someone. The voter or a family member must sign all applications, under the pains and penalties of perjury, before a ballot will be made available. Click Here for an application for a family member.

In a primary election, a voter who is not registered in a political party must specify the ballot of the party of choice in the application. You will not become registered in a party because of your participation in a primary.

Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk before 12 p.m. Noon the day before an election. Absentee ballots generally are available three weeks before an election.
