The first location is at Algonquin’s valve site located near Everett Street in Westwood. To reduce the amount of natural gas which is vented, Algonquin will work with Eversource to reduce the line pressure in the Algonquin system prior to venting. In addition, Algonquin will be performing maintenance at its meter station located near Woodland Road over the same period.

The maintenance activities at its meter station located near Woodland Road involve the use of so-called air movers. Air movers are designed to remove pockets of natural gas within the pipeline prior to the performance of pipeline maintenance activities. Since the work involves only the use of air movers, little to no gas is expected to be released at that facility, but Algonquin will nevertheless use monitors to constantly measure the levels of natural gas at both sites. Company representatives will also be on site during this work and there could be noise and/or odor associated. There is no cause for alarm and there will be no danger to persons or property in the area. In addition, fire and police officials will be notified as usual shortly before and at the conclusion of these maintenance activities.
