ArtWalk Radiant Westwood To Occur May 1

Radiant Westwood will be held on May 1, 2019. Located on High Street in Westwood, this event is part of Boch Center’s ArtWeek’s Light Up The Night Event. Westwood Media Center (WMC), High Street Market, Decor & More, and Westwood Artists will host this first-time event. It will feature local artists, wine, and colorful lights. The Westwood Artists who will be selling their handmade artwork are: Carol Ahearn, watercolor; Karen Cagan, photography; Kathy Zola, textile; and Jane Wojick, ceramics.

“The ArtWeek group had reached out to the statewide organization MassAccess, a non profit organization representing over 100 community media centers across the Commonwealth. They wanted to get more media centers, like WMC, involved with hosting events since we create and promote artistic expression every day! WMC has done events with the Westwood Artists in the past but never High Street Market or Decor & More, so were thrilled that [they] accepted our invitation to join forces for this event. Participating in ArtWeek is a win win for all of us because we get to take advantage of their built in marketing reach while we create an event that fits our community!” Exclaims WMC Executive Director Melinda Garfield.

On the actual lights, Garfield reports that Westwood Media Center “recently purchased these fabulous up-lights that we will use to add dimension to our future video projects but for Radiant Westwood we will be lighting up the pillars along the strip from Decor & More to High Street Market. We will also use our spot lights to illuminate the store signs. 109 is a heavily used roadway during the time of our event and we are hoping the lights attract drivers to take a break and come enjoy some local art.”

“ The art displays will be both inside and outside Decor & More, and High Street Market, [as well as[ the exterior space between the two,” says Westwood Artists’ co-founder Lisa Walker. She describes her group’s choice to participate in Radiant Westwood as “Westwood Artists are a group of professional [adult] artists who live in Westwood. The group is open to any Westwood resident at no cost. Any opportunity to sell to our neighbors and friends in Westwood is one of our goals.” (Please note the group’s new website, WestwoodArtists.com.
