Back to School: Kick Off Celebration at Legacy Place #Dedham

Kids ages pre-K-Grade 2 can hunt for school-themed items. Bring an item for Cradles to Crayons and get a free backpack!

Children ages pre-kindergarten to second grade and accompanying adults are welcome to attend Legacy Place's Weekly Wednesday: Back to School Kickoff Celebration on Wednesday, August 15 from 10am-12pm . There will be a school-themed scavenger hunt, as well as free balloon animals, face painting, and music from KISS 108’s DJ Jo Jo Benjamin. It is requested that in order to receive the list of clues as well as a backpack, all participants bring an item for Cradles to Crayons.

Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit based in Boston, although it also has branches in Philadelphia and Chicago.
"Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need." Among the items which they need that would be great to exchange for your clue list and backpack are: new toys (used for children's birthday gifts), boys' and girls' new or gently used shirts sizes 2T-12, boys pants 4/5-7/8, new arts and crafts/school supplies , and new diapers (see full list here).

Check-in will start at 10:00AM on the pop-up Lawn at Legacy, located by SalonCapri. Prizes are on a “first find” basis. The event is open to the public but registration is required .
