Community Electricity Aggregation: Westwood Town Meeting Warrant
May 6's Town Meeting will vote on whether Westwood should participate in Massachusetts' Community Electricity Aggregation program.

Westwood’s annual Town Meeting will occur on May 6. The list of warrants to be discussed at the town meeting has been approved as of January 22, 2019. The newly-renamed Select Board* and the Westwood Environment Action Committee have co-sponsored a warrant to permit Community Electricity Aggregation in Westwood.
Community Electricity Aggregation is “Electricity aggregation is a form of group electricity purchasing which offers lower, more stable electricity rates while also offering affordable increased renewable energy options. This in turn reduces reliance on carbon-producing fossil fuels.” Other local towns including Dedham, Plainville, and Attleboro have joined Massachusetts Community Electricity Aggregation initiative since its inception in 2016.
The Westwood Environmental Action Committee’s site explains that Community Electricity Aggregation would have the town “group purchase” electricity from Eversource. The aim is to make renewable energy more accessible to Westwoodians.

If you have questions about this warrant, the Select Board* and the Westwood Environment Action Committee will be holding meetings on March 19th at 7:00 pm at the Westwood Main Library and April 30th at 1:00 pm at the Westwood Senior Center.
Remember, there’s still time to run for office in Westwood. If the Westwood Environment Action Committee’s name sounds familiar, they researched a possible plastic bag ban in Westwood last year.
