The rankings are compiled to help those who need legal services find a respected attorney. Selection is considered an honor because attorneys are evaluated by their peers.

Best Lawyers was founded in 1981 to recognize extraordinary lawyers in private practice through a peer-review process. Approximately 5 percent of attorneys in private practice in the U.S. are recognized.
