Dedham's Sixth Taste of Legacy Place A Success
The popular event at The Lawn at Legacy proved once again that the suburbs can have fun.
As a DJ pumped “Billie Jean” and “Celebration” into a crowd of people of all ages last night, suburbanites enjoyed samples of food from some of Legacy Place’s restaurants*. Harpoon Brewery sold its Summer beers for the benefit of the Greater Boston Food Bank. The Greater Boston Food Bank was the beneficiary of this event.

Many of Legacy Place’s restaurants offered samples at Dedham’s Taste of Legacy Place. Il Massimo, which was recently featured on The Phantom Gourmet, served its Rigatoni Bolognese as well as tiramisu, the latter of which was outstanding. Aquitaine offered its Duck Confit Salad, and Legal C Bar was featuring its famous Clam Chowder.

Showcase Cinemas de Lux offered steak and chicken skewers, fire roasted vegetables, and popcorn. Fast-casual newcomer Cava offered plain and red pepper hummus and tzatziki paired with house-made pita chips (the tzatziki was delicious). Shake Shake had samples of its rich vanilla custard.

Genki offered up samples of its sushi, including its Sweet Potato Tempura Roll, avocado cucumber roll, crazy roll, and California roll. These were pre-plated, preventing someone from mixing and matching the two vegetarian options together. Caffé Nero served cold brew coffee and a number of focaccias--the olive and feta one was wonderful. Kings Bowling Alley served its buffalo chicken dip.

Temezcal Restaurant offered its wonderful guacamole and salsa with tortilla chips.

The Photo Bus offered a wicked fun, easy to use photo booth for attendees complete with props in a vintage VW bus.

On the Lawn at Legacy, lawn games were available to play from both Legacy Place and Harpoon. Muse Paint Bar was holding a demonstration. Boston Interiors was holding a pair of giveaways and also hanging out bottled water.

All in all, the event was well done, and one would never know it had been rescheduled for rain. My only complaints would be a lack of vegetarian food, that more seating or dining areas would have been nice, and an allergen label system might be something to consider for next year.
