Despite Ongoing Closure, Senior Center Remains Active
Westwood Senior Center's Physical Location May Be Closed, but the CoA is offering classes via cable, Zoom, and more.
"The Center is closed to the public (we still have daily Meals on Wheels delivered as well as staff here from 8-2 daily working on outreach, virtual programming etc.) until the fall when we will reevaluate the situation," reports Westwood Council on Aging Director Lina Arena-DeRosa.
However, do not make the mistake of thinking that the physical closure means that Westwood's senior citizens are lacking in programming, As detailed in the newsletter below, there are several activities available through the Center while still physically distancing to remain safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Need food? HESSCO offers Meals on Wheels for Westwood senior citizens. The Westwood Food Pantry may be able to help. If assistance grocery shopping is needed, the Council on Aging has volunteers to help—call (781) 329-8799.
- Transportation with Trish hopes to return safely later this summer.
- Want to stay active? There are daily exercise classes on cable (Comcast 8 & 12, and Verizon 32 & 42) or available via a smartphone, computer, or iPad via Zoom. Email Lorraine at lcavanaugh@townhall.westwood.ma.us to join the Zoom classes.
