Driver Of RV That Crashed Into Westwood Motel Is Charged With OUI

Police say the driver of an RV that crashed into the front of a hotel on Route 1 is facing charges of operating under the influence.

WESTWOOD, MA — The driver of the RV that crashed into a motel on Route 1 has been charged with operating under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and operating to endanger.

The driver, Richard Robinson, 63, of Whitman, was seen exiting Route 128 onto Route 1, then veered off, crashing directly into the side of a motel Thursday afternoon.

The damage to the RV is extensive and witnesses were quoted saying that the crash sounded like an explosion.

Firefighters say they cut a hole out of the rear side of the motor home to help get the driver, but he was actually able to get out and climb onto the stretcher himself.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no one else was hurt.

Robinson was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
