Farmers’ Market Opens in new Town Hall Location
Today Was the First Day for the Market, Now in Its Seventh Year
Westwood’s Farmers’ Market, now in its seventh year, opened today, June 12. This year it moved from the St Margaret Mary’s parking lot to being in front of Town Hall (580 High Street).
Today there were four vendors present:
- Silva Farms of Dighton, who had fresh vegetables and plants.
- Great Harvest Bread Company, a chain bakery from Newton that had bread, scones and cookies.
- Oakdale Farms of Rehoboth, who had fresh vegetables, fruit, plants, and eggs.*
- Melt in Your Mouth of Walpole, who brought cupcakes (with samples!) that the owner had made at home.
The intern for the Farmers’ Market, Brigitte Farah, said “We are really excited about our new location and are looking forward to the best season yet!” The Farmers’ Market is on Tuesdays at Town Hall, rain or shine from 1pm-6pm.

Edit as of June 14, 2018: Two more vendors will be joining the Farmers' Market as of next week, according to Farah.
*Oakdale Farms participates in Massachusetts’ Healthy Incentive Program (HIP). HIP allows people who receive SNAP benefits (aka food stamps) to get fresh fruits, vegetables, and plants at farmers’ markets and other similar locations with their benefits. E. L. Silvia Farms also accepts SNAP/HIP in addition to Oakdale Farms.
