Westwood florist Paula’s Blooming Hope is currently selling "Vases of Hope." For each arrangement sold, $5 will be donated to Canton-based Team Tara for the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Each "Vase of Hope" will contain a creative tag attached to inform the recipient that a donation has been made to the Jimmy Fund Walk.
One member of Team Tara is Paula's daughter, Diana Bezdedeanu, a 2020 Westwood High School alum. "I joined Team Tara this year in support of 2 of my former WHS teachers, Mr. Brian Shuman and Mr. Corey Rocha, both of whose wives previously battled breast cancer. I am walking on October 4th in memory of Mrs. Kristin Rocha and in support of Mrs. Tara Shuman, the latter of whom is one of our 2 team captains, as well as the naming inspiration behind this team," she explains.
Team Tara is currently raising money to fund a Metastatic Colon Cancer Research Study by Westwood's Dr. Kimmie Ng of The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Colon cancer is ravaging young people more than ever before. including the high-profile, unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman. Money raised as by Team Tara this year will go to support Dr. Ng's clinical trial to test Vitamin D's potential as a treatment for metastatic colon cancer.
