Mace (Not Perfume) Forces Frugal Fannie's Evacuation

A dozen people at the store near the Norwood-Westwood line, including a Westwood firefighter, went to the hospital.

WESTWOOD, MA — A dozen people were taken to the hospital after someone accidentally discharged a can of mace at the Frugal Fannie's in Westwood, near the Norwood line. A firefighter was among those who got checked out after the store was evacuated when people started to get sick inside, according to multiple reports.

Frugal Fannie's is a family-owned woman's clothing store on Wilson Way. The store is expected to reopen soon.

The co-founder of Frugal Fannie's told WCVB an employee thought the mace was perfume and sprayed it around.
