Interfaith Mini Walk For Hunger To Take Place September 22, 2019
The walk brings together organizations from throughout the area to benefit Project Bread.

Westwood’s Temple Beth David will host its annual Interfaith Mini-Walk for Hunger on September 22, 2019. (See last year’s preview here). The event brings together faith communities from Westwood, Needham, Wellesley, Sharon, Canton, Norwood, Dedham, and more. The event emphasizes that one need not belong to a faith community to walk or donate.
“We are working to engage several new organizations through both connections at area churches and through South Shore Chai, a consortium of temple social action groups around Boston,” says Committee Member Dr. Jeff Greenwald. “Of course, we are also thrilled to continue our ongoing relationship with the Islamic Center of New England.”
“Over the last few years, Wegmans has consistently been our star sponsor. Once again at this year’s Walk, Wegmans has committed to support our Walk and Project Bread with a $2500 donation, continuing its longstanding tradition of supporting the community and fighting hunger. We are so grateful to Wegmans for this commitment,” Greenwald touts.

Asked what he is most looking forward to, he responds, “Every year, I look forward to seeing the new groups who get involved and how especially young people can learn more about the power to effect change by coming together - a lesson that is relevant to folks of all ages. This year I look forward to sharing how much money and non-perishable donations we have collected - hopefully more than any prior year - with participants at the Walk. It’s great for all of us to hear concretely what all the efforts produced.”
“You know, I love the opportunity to work with great friends from other faith houses on this endeavor that brings people together to fight a problem that feels important. Nowadays, with the current climate of intolerance and the ongoing risks to the current funding sources for social support networks that fund nutrition programs, developing a greater understanding about the issues, the role we each can play in helping them, and how much stronger we are collectively feels critical to me,” states Greenwald.
