League of Women Voters: How Our food Choices Affect Our Climate

The Westwood/Walpole/Dedham League of Women Voters will host two talks by experts in the field of Food, Climate, and Nutrition via Zoom.

The Westwood/Walpole/Dedham League of Women Voters will host two talks by experts in the field of Food, Climate, and Nutrition via Zoom. Food consumption and Climate Change are two issues that are connected.

On January 11 at 7 pm William Moomaw, Emeritus Professor of Environmental Policy at the Fletcher School of Tufts University, will speak on the effects of our food choices on Climate Change. It will be held over Zoom.

On February 8 at 7 pm Shira Hirshberg MS, RDN, LDN, a registered and licensed Dietician Nutritionist, will speak on the subject of nutritious meatless meals. A Zoom link will be forthcoming.

Both of these speakers are a part of The Westwood/Walpole/Dedham League of Women Voters' promotion of Meatless Mondays. The program is co-sponsored by Charles River Green Coalition and Walpole Green.

Meatless Mondays is an initiative that has been in existence since 2003. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health offers many resources for Meatless Mondays. The League of Women Voters of Needham is a part of Meatless Mondays Needham. This initiative has Needham residents taking a pledge to participate in Meatless Mondays for the first twelve weeks of 2021.
