On the evening of Sunday, October 6, Westwood will be joining other cities and towns across the country to Light The Night for Fallen Firefighters. “Six buildings in Westwood will be lit up red for this event: both the Westwood and Islington Fire Stations, the police station, Westwood Town Hall, the main branch of the library, and the Council on Aging,” says Westwood Fire’s Public Information Officer, Carolyn Wade.

Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters takes place at the end of National Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial Weekend, and at the beginning of Fire Prevention Week. “It’s a great way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” says Wade. This past year’s list of fallen firefighters includes Worcester’s Lt John R. Kennedy.

If you or your business wish to join Westwood’s Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, “[you] can get red bulbs or flood lights at Rocky’s, Home Depot, and Lowes,” according to Wade.
