Norfolk County Amnesty International Group to Hold Second Meeting

Their work regarding Central and Latin America will begin with Urgent Actions

Norfolk County's new (unchartered) chapter of Amnesty International USA will be meeting for its second meeting at the Dedham Square Coffee House on June 11, 2018*.

At its inaugural meeting, the members of the Norfolk County chapter chose to focus to issues regarding Latin and Central America. Urgent Actions which will be worked on include: the forced displacement of Indigenous Yukpa people living in Cúcuta in Colombia, the risk of indigenous environmental defenders in Cuetzalan, Puebla, Mexico, and encouraging the closure of the Guntanmo Prison.

There are Amnesty International USA chapters throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but none in the Norfolk County area for people who are not students. Hopefully, this new chapter will enable Norfolk County residents who are interested in human rights activism to do so.
