It happens to the best of us. You really mean to return that true crime book you borrowed two months ago to Westwood Public Library the next time you're over by the Post Office, but you don't. You swear keeping that book in your car will help you remember to drop it off at the Islington branch the next time you're at CVS (it doesn't). Then you log onto the library's website hoping to pop some audiobooks on your phone, and you can't because your fines are too high.

Throughout the month of October 2019 the Friends of the Westwood Public Library will be sponsoring fine forgiveness. To participate, simply bring donations of food, home goods, toiletries, or socks to Westwood Public Library and your overdue fines will be forgiven. The beneficiaries of these donations will be the Westwood Food Pantry (toiletries) and Needham's Circle of Hope (toiletries and socks). In particular, items which will be accepted are:

  • Canned carrots or peas
  • Cereal
  • Canned fruit
  • Paper towels
  • Cleaning products
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Bodywash
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Toothbrush
  • Menstrual products
  • Socks (Ideally plain white crew)
  • Bath towels
  • Fitted twin or full sheet sets (either gently used or new)
