Serious Injuries After 2 Struck On Pond Street In Westwood: PD

Two people were taken to separate Boston hospitals and were said to have varying degrees of very serious injuries.

WESTWOOD, MA — Two people were struck in the crosswalk by the area of Pond Street and Lakeshore Drive in Westwood Sunday afternoon and were taken to the hospital with "varying degrees of very serious injuries," police said.

The crash happened at around 3 p.m. and involved a single car and several pedestrians. Police and fire officials responded to the scene and treated those involved, transporting two of the pedestrians to separate Boston hospitals.

Police said the crash appears preliminary accidental but no final determination can be made about what charges, if any, will be filed.

The investigation by Westwood Police and State Police continues due to the nature and severity of the accident, police say.

Police did not release any information about those involved in the accident. It's unclear who was struck but a photo of the scene from Boston 25 reporter Heather Hegedus showed a child's bike lying in the street.
