In November 2020, Westwood Community Chest sent out our annual appeal. We want to express our gratitude to the many donors who supported this appeal. Donations large and small are equally valued as we seek to maintain our impact throughout these challenging times. We are always grateful for community support; though this year, we are especially grateful.

Westwood Community Chest began fifteen years ago as a grassroots effort to respond to needs identified by caring residents and town employees. It started with individuals digging into their own pockets to assist families in crisis. As these efforts became more frequent, this small group was advised to consider forming a 501(c) (3) (nonprofit organization). This change provided some structure to the assistance that was becoming more frequent and organized.

The Westwood Community Chest's motto is “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Westwood Community Chest (WCC) is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity dedicated to helping Westwood residents in need through temporary financial assistance. The organization is run by a volunteer board and works with the town of Westwood to ensure that our community members get the help they need.

WCC receives funds from residents, private donors, and businesses. WCC distributes these funds to help families in need through a confidential application process. Some beneficiaries include:
· Single parents in need of safe summer activities for their children through our “Campership” program.
· Elderly struggling with tight budgets and rising utility bills.
· Children who need medical treatment.
· Families who have experienced job loss or other financial crisis and are struggling to make ends meet.

WCC works closely with our liaisons from the town who help us identify families at risk and connect them with resources to address their critical needs. Throughout this assessment and our application process, all applicant information is kept private and strictly confidential.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online at westwoodcommunitychest.org. We are also able to mail a paper application. If you need assistance, please call 781-366-0470.
