Westwood 12U Softball Team Enjoys Successful Fall Season

The team had an an 8-3 record, winning games against Needham, Dorchester, Norwood, and West Roxbury over seven Sundays!

The Westwood 12U Softball Team finished the fall season with an 8-3 record, winning games against Needham, Dorchester, Norwood and West Roxbury over the course of seven Sundays.

Addy Keaveney led the team. She batted an incredible .800, with 16 hits in 20 at-bats, including two doubles, two triples, a home run and 14 RBI. On the mound, Keaveney was 4-0, striking out 38 batters in 17 innings of work.

Keaveney was voted CO-MVP by her teammates, an honor shared with Livy Leyden, who batted .500, scored 19 runs and served as Westwood's primary catcher and emotional leader.

Mia Poles, who led the 12U Select Team in RBIs this summer, continued her hot hitting, finishing the fall with a .600 batting average and 11 RBI.

Izzy Walsh was the team's most versatile player, capable of playing any position on the diamond. Walsh struck out 30 batters in 20 innings of work on the mound and knocked in 11 runs while batting .381 with a double and two triples.

The pitching highlight of the season came on October 4, when Keaveney, Walsh, Julia Tartufo and Abby Johnson hurled a pair of no-hitters against Norwood as Westwood swept the doubleheader. Tartufo didn't allow a hit while facing 20 batters this season and Johnson finished the fall with a 2-0 pitching record and 30 strikeouts.

Moira Kenneally returned to action after missing the summer with an injury and batted .400 while knocking in six runs.

Also contributing to the successful 8-3 season were Lucy Barlett, Vivian Denmark, Mia French, Bella Heppelmann, Adrienne Kelly, Riley McKee and Mady McMann.
