Westwood Artists’ December Marketplace To Take Place 11/30 & 12/1
Vendors will include food, painting, pottery, and photography. All vendors are from Westwood, MA,

The Westwood Artists will be hosting their annual December Marketplace at the Westwood Historical Society’s Fisher School on November 30 from 3:30pm-7:00pm and December 1 from 10am-3:00pm. “Participation in this event is limited to Westwood residents. We limit participation to 12 vendors as space is tight at the Fisher School. The Fisher School is an old 1-room schoolhouse owned by the Westwood Historical Society. Applications go out in the spring and are due back in early summer. We do some jurying, mostly limiting the number of participants to 2 per media type (painting, jewelry, photography, pottery, fiber, food, glass etc). Most of our participants come back each year, but others roll in and out as their schedules allow. This year, our one new person is a calligrapher, Claire Griffin, who recently moved into Westwood,” says Westwood Artists member (and fiber artist on display at the Marketplace) Kathy Zola.
In addition to Griffin and Zola, there will be many other artists with goods for sale. Lisa W B Walker and Jane Wojick will be selling pottery. Marilyn Brier and Melanie Guerra will both be selling jewelry. Paintings will be sold by Carol Ahearn and Maureen Obey. Karen Cagan will be selling her photography. The Copper Kettle Bakery, owned by Westwood’s Helen Coates, will have Welsh cakes for sale. Whim Chocolates will be both sampling and selling their chocolates. Zola reports that most vendors take credit cards as well as cash.
“We participate in and help sponsor other visual art events in Westwood throughout the year. This past summer, we partnered with the WestwoodWinds Community Band on an event called "Art and Soul". The band pieces were all animal themed. For the visual piece, Westwood artists sponsored a community quilt in paper that included artwork by attendees of the August 6th “Art & Soul” WestwoodWinds concert, students in Westwood Recreation’s 2D summer art camps, and Westwood Library’s Monday Craft Program. The quilt is now at the Westwood Media Center. This coming spring, we hope to host a professional development workshop for creative types that will focus on business skills and branding,” says Zola of Westwood Artists’ other activities.
