Westwood-based nonprofits for #GivingTuesday #MyGivingStory2018
This #GivingTuesday, consider donating close to home.

November 27 is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday latches onto the momentum of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday to encourage both monetary giving and volunteering at nonprofits. Here are some Westwood-based nonprofits that could use donations or volunteers.
- Westwood’s teen mental health foundation I AM Strong can use both donations and volunteers for their grants. Patch recently profiled one of their grant recipients, Olivia Malcolmson, and her project, RealTalkAdoption.com.
- Westwood Community Chest* seeks donations to promote its mission of “helping Westwood residents in need through temporary financial assistance. The organization is run by a volunteer board and works with several town organizations to ensure that our community members get the help they need. WCC receives funds from private donors, businesses and town organizations and distributes them to help families in need through a confidential application process.”
- The Westwood High Alumni Association seeks donations for its scholarships for Westwood High School graduating seniors.
- Friends of the Westwood Library could use monetary and old book donations. They do things that “underwrites author visits, children's programing and museum passes, helping the library with needs outside their operating budget -and we contribute to making the library a fun place to visit !!”
- Westwood Food Pantry* provides food to those Westwood residents with food insecurity. They can use both monetary donations and volunteer hours.
- New Life Furniture Bank of Medfield-Walpole has a Westwood resident at the helm. Its mission is to collect “high-quality gently-used furniture and household essentials that are then made available at no cost to individuals and families in need. We are a Medfield, MA not-for-profit organization with a warehouse in Walpole, MA, serving the MetroWest and Greater Boston area. New Life provides a meaningful option for local residents who are downsizing, renovating or disposing of a loved one’s property.” They can use both in-kind donations and money.
