Westwood Day 2018 A Great Celebration!
It proved to be a day of entertainment, food, vendors, and more on a beautiful fall day.

Westwood Day 2018 took place on September 29, and proved to be a great time. It began with Westwood beating Norwood at the football game on Friday, followed by fireworks. Saturday morning began with the Remax HotAir balloon, followed by both the 5k and 1-mile fun runs.

The entertainment began shortly thereafter and continued throughout the day, including the Westwood Winds and Westwood Swing Band.

The food court provided a diverse blend of fair-type foods like ice cream and potatoes with samples from local restaurants.

Vendor Village had a sizeable amount of vendors, charities, religious groups, and political groups offering information, raffles, and swag to Westwood Day guests (Full disclosure: this author partook in both the gathering of swag and entering raffles). Although listing all the groups would be too large a task, vendors included many local banks, dentists, and veterinarians. Charities included Cradles to Crayons, Rotary International, I AM Strong (watch for their 5K coming up on May 5), and New Life Furniture Bank. Religious groups included the First Parish Church, First Baptist Church, St Margaret Mary’s, Encounter Church, and Temple Beth David.
Political groups included groups both supporting and opposing Question 1, Rep Paul McMurtry, Progressive Dedham/Westwood/Norwood, Westwood Republican Town Committee, and Inclusive Westwood (a reminder of the event on Yes on Question 3 at the Temple on October 3). Youth groups were also present, be it the Westwood Robotics Team, Girl Scouts, or French Exchange Program.
