Our town's annual Westwood Day will take place on September 21, 2019. (See last year’s preview here). It will begin with a Westwood High football game at 7pm and fireworks at 9pm on September 20.

“Westwood Day involves a lot of planning and working closely with many town departments. It is a lot of work to get underway, but the reward is seeing neighbors come together in celebration of community. Local performers get to show their talents and kids get to play on inflatables, pet animals, and ride the train,” effuses Westwood Recreation’s Nicole Banks.

September 21 will begin with a 5k and fun run. A map of the route can be found here, register by September 14 for the early registration discount. Many town businesses are sponsors of the event.

The Vendor Village is always a highlight of the day. Dozens of local companies, clubs, and organizations will be in attendance. Banks commented that there are still some openings in Vendor Village if you are interested.

At Vendor Villiage will be Brigham & Women’s Health Care, Folsom Funeral Home, Greater Neponset Running Club, Hale Reservation, League of Women Voters, Moms Club of Westwood, New Life Furniture Bank, Westwood Artists, and Westwood Robotics. The food court will have many local vendors, including Bibi Bakery and Cafe and Ribpublic BBQ.

“The MOMS Club of Westwood invites local moms to stop by our booth and learn about how local moms are supporting each other within the Community," says Jen of the MOMS club of Westwood.

“This year we have new entertainers performing. We also have been working with WEAC (Recycling Committee) to provide composting as an option for guests in the food court area,” says Banks of what is new at Westwood Day for 2019. “We limit music performers to local musician acts and give priority to rotating new groups into the schedule. Now that we have two stages, we are able to get more acts in throughout the day. “

2019 entertainment will include Westwood Winds, Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus, and Greene O’Leary Irish Dance.

The Vendor Village, Entertainment, and Food Court run from 10am-3pm.
