Westwood High School Robotics Team To Hold Pasta Dinner

12/14 Event aims to both educate attendees on robotics and STEM, and fundraise.

Westwood High School’s Robotics Team will be holding a pasta dinner fundraiser on Friday, December 14 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Westwood High School Cafeteria. The cost will be $8 per person, and attendees can pre-register online. In addition to pasta, there will also be ice cream from JP Licks.

“This is a great opportunity for families with children currently enrolled in the Westwood Public School system to learn more about the available STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics] opportunities within the high school, including the well-established robotics team,” says Westwood High School (WHS) junior and robotics team member Daniel Xu.

WHS’s Robotics Team 1757 was founded in 2006. Since then, it has gone on work on its mission of competing in robotics competitions across the region and spreading its love for sciences in Westwood. At present, the team is fifty members strong, with aid from adult mentors. Team 1757’s theme for this year’s FIRST Robotics competition is Deep Space Exploration, and 2017’s was Retro Gaming. These robotic Wolverines also are active in the Westwood community. “In the past years, team members have traveled to the different elementary schools and the middle school to give students a passion for science, enabling them to be successful pioneers of STEM in the future,” notes Xu.
