August 19th University Avenue Road Closure Update:

The railway crossing installation is now complete, and final paving is being done. On August 20th, University Avenue between Harvard Street and Yale Street will be open, but will be limited to one lane of travel in each direction for the completion of sidewalk construction. We anticipate the sidewalk work to be complete on August 20th, and then the area between Harvard Street and Yale Street will be open for all lanes of travel, weather permitting. August 13th Update-

A temporary road closure of University Avenue between Harvard Street and Yale Street will take place from August 18th at 7:30 am to August 20th at 8:00 pm, for CSX Transportation to install a new railroad crossing. This is a complete road closure across all four lanes, and will be for 24 hours per day. The town will issue a CODE Red call this week.

Detour signage and police details will be in place, with electronic message boards placed throughout the town, along Providence Highway and Route 128. During this temporary road closure, the best route for resident and business access to University Station and the MBTA Station would be from Route 128. Trucks will be required to comply with local town road truck restrictions and should see alternate routes prior to the road closure.
