Annual event to feature photos with Santa, dancing, a balloon artist, a slime table, and more.

As always, please email me to tell me about what you would like to read about (and have your neighbors read about!)The Westwood Young Women's Club (WYWC) will hold its annual Winterfest on December 1 from 10am-1pm at Westwood High School. The entry costs includes dance entertainment from Janet Keaney’s School of Dance, a balloon artist, face painting, and arts and crafts. For an additional fee, photos may be taken with Santa, food and beverages may be purchased, and train rides are available. “I think Winterfest has just been an annual local, family-friendly event that families have been able to rely on. Every year we try to keep the main events that kids seems to love (cookie decorating, train rides, photos with Santa) while also introducing some new activities and vendors to keep it interesting for both parents and kids.,” says WYWC’s president, Katie Crowley Collins. (As an example of how enduring Winterfest is, this writer not only attended and danced with Miss Janet’s at “Breakfast with Santa” thirty years ago, but also took her now-young adult niece and nephews there fifteen years ago).
Crowley Collins reports that new attractions this year will include “We have a Westwood High School student who is hosting a "slime making" table! She was a big hit at Westwood Day and we're really excited to have her on board this year at Winterfest. Two new vendors are joining us as well: Beautycounter and Pixie Lane Clothing (great opportunities for some holiday shopping or little pick me ups for moms!)”
“The largest portion of our annual donations each year benefit The Early Childhood Council and School Street Playground. We've had a long-standing relationship with both since before I have been a member of the club (6 years ago!). Since Winterfest is one of our largest fundraisers (next to Touch a Truck in June) what we make that day goes towards the donation we make at the beginning of the new year,” says Crowley Collins of Winterfest's beneficiaries.
