Born to be "Spooktacular!"

South Shore Health System's tiniest patients get ready to celebrate Halloween

Some of South Shore Health System’s littlest babies are getting ready for Halloween!

Newborns in the Level II Special Care Nursery at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth were given Halloween-inspired costumes – ranging from Star War’s Yoda to a gumball dispenser.

Registered nurses Mallory Decas and Emily Schiarizzi, designed and sewed 10 of the custom-made costumes. In addition, some of their tiny outfits were from Build a Bear Workshop – the perfect size and fit for the teeny tots.

“Families who have an infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can sometimes miss the joys of celebrations and holidays at home,” said Decas, who teamed-up with her colleague, Kiley Moran, RN to snap some photos of the babies – some dressed as little unicorns and dancing deers. “This provides some fun and a sense of normalcy for the families during their hospital stay,” Decas said.
