Brockton Man Charged In Weymouth Teen Shooting

Braintree and Weymouth K-9 units found the suspect on Autumn Avenue late Friday afternoon after the shooting on West Street.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A 22-year-old Brockton man was charged in connection with the shooting of a Weymouth teen on Friday.

Braintree and Weymouth police with K-9 units conducted a search of the area around West Street in Weymouth late Friday afternoon after a 17-year-old was found shot in the chest in his driveway. Police said the victim is expected to survive.

Police Capt. Joseph Comperchio said witnesses told them the suspect, Eric Lesperance Jr., fled toward Braintree and someone in the Summer Street area told police the suspect was in the area of that street with a gun. Police said a short time later they found the suspect on Autumn Lane in Weymouth.

The weapon was not immediately located.

Police said Lesperance was charged with possession of a firearm without a license, assault and battery with a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and possession of ammunition without a federal identification card.
