Cemeteries of the South Shore

Free illustrated talk by Stephen C. O'Neill, Executive Director of the Hanover Historical Society

WHAT: Cemeteries hold a fascinating chronicle of our local history, changes in mourning, and burial customs over time. Our South Shore cemeteries tell us stories about our earliest inhabitants, including the Native Wompanoag and settlers dating back thousands of years.

Join us for this FREE illustrated talk by Stephen C. O’Neill, Executive Director of the Hanover Historical Society. O’Neill takes us from small graveyards and family plots to modern, municipal cemeteries and explores the variety of cemetery types and styles, as well as the many forms of burials and memorials unique to this region of the country.

Sponsored by The Friends of South Shore Health, this class is free!
