Flags at State Buildings to be Lowered in Honor of Fallen Weymouth Marine

All US state flags at state buildings will be lowered to half-staff Monday in honor of PFC Peter J. Handibode.

Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Monday, June 29, in honor of PFC Peter J. Handibode.

PFC Handibode, from Weymouth, was in the United States Marine Corps and died suddenly at the age of 19 on June 20, 2015.

A 2014 Weymouth High School graduate, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and entered the United States Marine Corps. after graduation according to his obituary.

He was stationed in Florida and was about to graduate with honors from air traffic control training.

A celebration of his life is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home followed by burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
