Memorial Day In Weymouth: What You Need To Know

Here's how the town will observe Memorial Day, plus a list of what's open and closed.

WEYMOUTH, MA – Memorial Day Is Monday, May 28, and Weymouth will mark the holiday with a memorial ceremony and parade. Below is the schedule of events:

8:30 a.m. - Columbian Square wreath placement

9:15 a.m. - Korean War memorial ceremony at Jackson Square

10 a.m. - Parade from Jackson Square to Town Hall: From Broad Street to Middle Street

11 a.m. - Weymouth's Memorial Day program at Civic Center next to Town Hall

In case of inclement weather, a brief ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Abigail Adams School auditorium, 89 Middle St.

What's Open And Closed On Memorial Day

The holiday also means government offices and some businesses will be closed. Before you head out, check our list of what's open and closed on the holiday.

  • Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion
  • Subway, buses: Sunday schedule
  • Supermarkets: Open
  • Convenience stores: Open
  • Bars: Open
  • Banks: Closed
  • Basically anything to do with municipal government: Closed
  • Libraries, see above: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Mail: Express delivery only
  • Trash/recycling collection: Delayed one day. Monday pickup on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup on Wednesday, etc., ending with Friday pickup on Saturday.
