Obituary: Weymouth Resident Kate Phalon McCarthy, 15

Kate McCarthy died after a tragic car accident Saturday night.

Kate Phalon McCarthy of South Weymouth died by accident on April 9, 2016, at the age of 15.

Family, friends and school were Kate’s life. She cherished her relationships with her parents, brothers, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, her large extended family and many friends. Kate always enjoyed going to school. She attended Hamilton and St. Francis Xavier Schools in Weymouth. Currently, she was a sophomore at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree where she excelled at academics and athletics, playing varsity volleyball, lacrosse, and track. She was also a member of the school chorus. She enjoyed country music and spending time on Cape Cod with family and friends. Kate’s smile would light up the room. She will be remembered as beautiful, funny, thoughtful and kind.

Beloved daughter of Robert G. and Nancy E. (Phalon) McCarthy. Loving sister of Connor N. and Liam G. McCarthy. Cherished granddaughter of Bill and Jean Phalon, Helen McCarthy and the late Gerry McCarthy, all of Braintree. Loving niece of Gayle and Dan O’Connell; Bill and Daphne Phalon; Ellen and Mark Phillips; Susan and Sean Flanders; and Laurie and Brian Doherty. Loving cousin of Kimberleigh, Brendan, Johnny, Danielle, Amanda, Katelyn, Stephanie, Mark, Ryan, Jack, Cal, Molly, Maggie, Sean, Megan, Deanna, and Ava.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 3-8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home South Weymouth at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 11 a.m. Burial in Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree.

Kate’s family strongly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Kate McCarthy Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Weymouth Bank, 51 Columbian St., So. Weymouth, MA 02190.
