Snow Emergency Parking Reminders In Weymouth

Those who impede Weymouth's snow removal efforts this winter are subject to ticketing and towing at owner's expense.

WEYMOUTH, MA — While this week's one-two punch of snow did not hit Weymouth nearly as hard as it did many communities in Massachusetts, there is almost surely more on the way with the winter just beginning. Weymouth police want to remind residents of the parking restrictions that occur during storms — and the consequences if they are not followed.

The National Weather Service said Weymouth officially had 5.1 inches of snow through Tuesday morning. The jackpot in Massachusetts were the towns of Hubbardston, Royalston and Winchendon with 25 inches. Fitchburg was next at 24.8. The jackpot in New England was New Ipswich, N.H. with 32 inches.

When a winter storm emergency is called, any car parked in a public way, or if any part of a vehicle is impeding snow removal, that car will be ticketed and towed. There is also no parking on public ways for more than one hour between midnight and 7 a.m. any day.
