WEYMOUTH, MA — Could the biggest e-commerce company in the world find a new home in Weymouth? State officials think so.
Weymouth's Union Point was one of 26 communities included in the state's bid for Amazon's second headquarters. The proposal calls for the company to set up shop inside the former Weymouth Naval Air Station that stretches into Abington and Rockland.
The bid says, "Union Point is a 1,500-acre Smart City located 12 miles from downtown Boston that is pad-ready and zoned for 10 million square feet of commercial development and 4,000 residential units. With an on-site commuter rail station and unparalleled site plan approval timing (30 days), Union Point provides an affordable, sustainable, and technology-focused urban environment that meets and exceeds 100% of Amazon’s HQ2 requirements."
