WATCH: Chesna Family Drops Puck At Boston Bruins Game
Weymouth native Charlie Coyle took the ceremonial face-off at the Bruins' First Responders Night.

WEYMOUTH, MA – The Boston Bruins hosted the family of slain Weymouth police officer Michael Chesna Tuesday in honor of First Responders Night. The family participated in the puck drop for the ceremonial face-off, which was taken by Bruins forward and Weymouth native Charlie Coyle.
Chesna was shot and killed last summer while responding to a report of an erratic driver near South Shore Hospital. He was 42 years old.
Police have charged 20-year-old Emanuel Lopes with Chesna's murder and the murder of a bystander, 77-year-old Vera Adams.

The community has since rallied around Chesna's widow, Cindy, and their children Olivia and Jack. Donations poured in from residents and businesses, allowing the Chesnas to pay off their mortgage, and the town named the family the grand marshal for its inaugural St. Patrick's Day Parade.
"It was an honor to have the family of fallen Weymouth police officer Michael Chesna participate in tonight's ceremonial puck drop on First Responders Night," the Bruins tweeted. Boston beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1 Tuesday night.
