Weymouth Man Accused Of Attempted Robbery In Dorchester

Police say 38-year-old Paul Desmond is facing charges including attempted larceny and disorderly conduct.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Weymouth man is accused of attempting to rob a 7-Eleven convenience store on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester early Sunday morning, said Boston police in a news release.

According to a witness and security camera footage reviewed by police, Paul Desmond, 38, lunged over the counter and attempted to take money out of the register when it opened.

Police said Desmond was unable to take money as a bystander and off-duty security guard physically restrained him until officers arrived.

Desmond was arrested and charged with Attempted Larceny and Disorderly Conduct, said police. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court at a later date.
