Weymouth Man Asked For A Light, Pulled Out A Gun: MBTA Police
MBTA Transit Police said Elijah Messier 20, was charged with assault, gun and heroin possession at the Maverick Square station on Friday.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Weymouth man was charged with assault, gun and heroin possession after MBTA Transit Police said he brandished a handgun toward a man at the Maverick Square station after the victim said he refused a request to borrow a lighter.
Transit Police said Elijah Messier, 20, tossed the handgun in the station and was found in possession of what was believed to be heroin after the victim identified Messier as the man who threatened him.
Transit Police said they were on a detail at the station about 9 a.m. on Friday when the victim approached officers and said he was assaulted. The victim said Messier became angry when he declined to give him the lighter and pointed a gun at him.

After the victim gave police a description of the suspect, Transit Police said he was seen on an escalator and attempted to flee the station. Transit Police said they soon located Messier, and a gun under an MBTA information sign close to where they found Messier.
Messier was charged with possession of a firearm without a license, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and armed assault.
