Weymouth Teachers Get New Contract
The school committee has ratified a new contract for the teachers.

Weymouth, MA — After about a year and a half of negotiations, the Weymouth teachers have a new contract.
Thursday night, the School Committee voted to ratify the new contract, which was previously approved by the Weymouth Teachers Association.
Chairperson Lisa Belmarsh and Tracey Nardone chose to recuse themselves due to a conflict of interest.

“We been meeting with unit A for over a year and a half and both sides have been working side to get a good contract. Both sides will never 100 percent like everything but we were able to get a contract before the end of school,” Vice Chairperson Diana Flemer said.
In the contract, the teachers will get a 1.5 percent raise for the recently ended school year, a two percent raise in the upcoming school year, and a 2.5 percent, for the following year.

In the classroom, an extra 15 minutes will be added in the primary schools.
Teachers will also pilot a new student information system this upcoming year before a full implementation takes place in the 2017-18 school year.
