Weymouth Woman Admits To Killing Kitten: DA

Eleanor Campbell, of Weymouth, was sentenced to a year in prison after prosecutors said she admitted to beating her pet kitten to death.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Weymouth woman was sentenced to a year in prison Thursday after prosecutors said she admitted to beating her pet kitten to death in 2016. Eleanor Campbell, 38, will also be committed for 6 months with the balance suspended for 3 years.

During those years, Campbell must undergo a mental health evaluation and get any recommended treatment. She also isn't allowed to own a pet.

Prosecutors said Campbell killed her kitten Nov. 7, 2016, and there were several witnesses.

"The necessary witnesses were at Quincy District Court ready for trial to begin when Eleanor Campbell decided to admit her guilt," District Attorney Michael Morrissey said. "Weymouth police were called to the scene by Campbell’s neighbors during a disturbance. It was then they found the remains of the kitten in the driveway in terrible condition."
