What's Open, Closed In Weymouth On Christmas Day

WEYMOUTH, MA – Weymouth town offices will close at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 and remain closed Tuesday, Dec. 25. Offices will reopen during normal business hours Wednesday, Dec. 26.

The Christmas Day and New Year's Day holidays will delay rubbish collection for one day for each of the respective weeks. Following Christmas week, the Town of Weymouth will be collecting two extra bags of rubbish on collection days during the weeks of Dec. 31 and Jan. 7.

Residents are asked to place only two extra bags separate from the rubbish and recycling carts as they will be collected manually. This collection is not intended for disposal of any construction/demolition materials; it is for household rubbish only.

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

  • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

Supermarkets

• Shaw's/Star Market
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Trader Joe's
  • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Whole Foods
  • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
  • Christmas Day: Closed.
• Wegmans
  • Christmas Eve: Stores will close at 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
