Wilmington Land Once Eyed For Controversial Development Is Sold
The family that owns the Mobil gas station across the street from land once eyed for a controversial Global gas station purchased the lot.

WILMINGTON, MA -- SF Land Development Corp. purchased a lot of land at 100 West Street in Wilmington for $2.4 million on Feb. 19. The land had been owned by 100 West Street LP, which had planned to build a controversial Global gas station and store before withdrawing the proposalin Sept. 2017. SF Land is owned by the Santini Family, which also owns the Mobil gas station across the street from the land and had been a key opponent to the proposal.
"We absolutely plan to develop the property with a use that is beneficial to both us and the town," a representative for SF Land told the Wilmington Apple, which first reported this story. The company has no immediate plans for the property, the representative said.
The proposal by Global Montello Corp., the development arm of the gas station company Global Partners, had sparked a campaign by neighbors who put up yard signs and spoke out at town meetings in opposition to the project near a busy intersection close to the Reading town line and the I-93 interchange.
