Gas Prices Up 5 Cents in Mass.: Where's Winchester's Cheapest Gas?
Gas prices rose again, up 5 cents in Massachusetts, but is still slightly below the national average.

WINCHESTER, MA — Drivers are getting a bit of a pinch at the pump to start off the new year, with gas prices in the Bay State up five cents.
According to AAA Northeast's Jan. 3 survey of prices in Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded averages $2.27 per gallon. The Massachusetts price is eight cents below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.35. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 31 cents lower at $1.96. The average price in Massachusetts for all of 2016 was $2.06, said AAA.
The cheapest gas in Winchester can be found at Speedway located at 279 Cambridge St. for $2.27.

“The national average has moved higher for 34 of the last 35 days, largely due to market reaction to OPEC’s plan to cut crude oil production.” said Mary Maguire, director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast, in a statement. “In 2017, traders and analysts will continue to monitor whether participating countries adhere to the OPEC agreement and the rate at which U.S. gasoline production increases.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 34 cents, from a low of $2.15 to a high of $2.49.
