Identity Theft, Hit and Run and Traffic Accidents in Police Logs

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department.

Jan. 9

10:32 a.m.: Officers responded to a report of a hit and run with minor damage on Washington Street near Winchester Hospital. The caller’s mirror was knocked off and there were minor scrape marks on the driver’s side door.

10:50 a.m.: Officers responded to a traffic collision on Main Street. A car headed north on Main Street was hit on their right rear side by a car traveling through the intersection of Swanton Street and Main Street. The driver on Swanton Street was issued a citation for failing to yield.

7:41 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of identity theft on Laurel Hill Lane. The victim told police that an unknown suspect had opened cellphone accounts in her name last December in New York; one was with AT&T, the other was with Sprint. Both accounts had been closed.

11:44 a.m.: A car backed into a parked car while backing out of a parking space at Lynch School.

2:57 p.m.: A good Samaritan turned in a lost cell phone to the police station.
