Irene George Passes Away

Conceived in Tuscany and born in Boston, Irene's first transatlantic passage sparked her life-long passion for both Italy and the sea.

Irene J. George (Biagiotti) of Winchester and Marblehead, MA, passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence on Nov. 8 at the age of 95 surrounded by her family.

Devoted wife of Vincent James George and loving mother of Renée K. Burnam of McLean, VA and Wayne B. George of Marblehead, MA, she was the cherished grandmother of Justin, Jessica and Lindley Burnam and Nathanael and Joshua George, and beloved sister to Norma DiTullio of Cohasset, MA.

Conceived in Tuscany and born in Boston, Irene’s first transatlantic passage sparked her life-long passion for both Italy and the sea. Irene met the love of her life and soul-mate Vincent George, and they spent the next 65 years building an amazing life together. Irene’s life was centered on love of family, genuine friendships, and unconditional faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She touched all who knew her. She sailed through her 95th year living independently and spreading her effervescent love of life. She will be remembered for her vivacious and indomitable spirit, fun-loving attitude, gracious style, humor and quick wit, creative and artistic skills, incredible cooking, passion for music and dancing, and love of flowers and gardening.

Visiting hours will be held at the Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main St. Winchester on Friday, November 17 from 3:30-6:30 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at the Church of the Epiphany, 70 Church St. on Saturday, November 18 at 11 am. After a short graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life reception at the church in Hadley Hall.
