Joan Fisher Passes Away At 102

Born in England, she served in the WAAF during World War II in England, during the Battle for Britain.

Joan (Bowditch) Fisher passed away on May 29. She was 102.

She was born October 1, 1915 in Surrey, England, the oldest of 3 children born to the late Fredrick Bowditch and the late Mary (Broyd) Bowditch. She was the widow of Francis B. Fisher, of Winchester, MA, who passed on May 22, 1986.

Joan served in the WAAF during World War II in England, during the Battle for Britain. Joan was a war bride who came to the US from England in 1947. She lived the rest of her life in Winchester, MA. Joan loved flower gardening and watching movies, especially Action and Horror Movies!

She will be sadly missed by her 5 children: Susan Williamson and life partner Leonardo DeBrum of Pelham, NH, Carl Fisher and wife Cindy of Simpsonville, SC, Carol Olivito and husband John of Lynn, MA, Stevan Fisher and wife Beth of Billerica, MA, Alan Fisher and wife Joanne of Wilmington, MA. Joan also leaves 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and some very special nieces and nephews along with many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Fredrick Bowditch of Ontario, Canada, and her sister Mollie Evans of Southport, England, who both lived into their 90’s.

Visiting hours will be held at Lane Funeral Home 760 Main St. (Rte 38) Winchester on Monday, June 4th from 4-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Joan’s memory can be made to the: Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970
