OBITUARY: Elizabeth P. Johnson, 73, of Winchester
Johnson was a kindergarten teacher for over 44 years in the Winchester Public School system.

WINCHESTER, MA — Elizabeth P. (Campisano) “Betty” Johnson, age 73, of Winchester, passed away on December 3, 2016, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the cherished wife of the late Walter O. Johnson.
Born in Somerville, MA, Betty was the daughter of the late Peter and Emily (Porrazzo) Campisano. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, and obtained a Master of Education from Boston University.
Mrs. Johnson was a kindergarten teacher for over 44 years in the Winchester Public School system, primarily at the Lynch School and served several years as President of the Winchester Education Association.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cheering for the Boston Celtics and the Red Sox. She loved domestic and international travel and spent summers visiting Cape Cod with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linnea M. Johnson and daughter-in-law, Marcy Slack, of Winchester. She was the devoted sister of Marie Lauretano and her husband Dr. Ralph Lauretano of Winchester, sister-in-law of Carol Lauretano, Sandra Hartzler, and Leo Lauretano, aunt of Charles Lauretano and Dr. Ralph (Michelle) Lauretano, Jr. and great-aunt of Emily and Gianna Lauretano.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 4-8 p.m., and again on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10 a.m.. Internment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
