Two Arrested, Handgun Seized After Parking Space Dispute

Two men were arrested and are facing a multitude of charges after a disturbance at Sandy Beach.

Two men were arrested and a handgun was seized after a dispute over a parking space occurred at Sandy Beach earlier this week.

Alfredo Ricardo Andrade-Ascencio, 21, of Lynn, and Julio Pineda, 25, of East Boston, were both arrested after a fight at Sandy Beach on Sunday, July 5.

Police responded to a parking lot at the location after receiving a report of a fight. After arriving officers located Pineda and placed him in custody, authorities said. Andrade-Ascencio was then pointed out by members of the crowd in a Toyota Camry sedan, attempting to leave. Police then approached the vehicle and took Andrade-Ascencio into custody, during which officers found a Glock handgun in the vehicle, authorities said.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the victim and his family pulled into a parking space in the Sandy Beach parking lot and Pineda approached them telling them they could not park there, as he was saving the space for a friend, police reported. The driver refused and Pineda allegedly began to key and scratch the vehicle.

Andrade-Ascencio arrived shortly thereafter and the two men allegedly shoved and slapped the driver of the vehicle, his brother, uncle and aunt, police said. Additionally, during the altercation, Pineda allegedly exposed himself to the victim’s aunt and her two young daughters.
