Winchester Co-operative Bank to Open First New Branch Since 1893

Bank plans to open a new, full-service branch in Woburn in early 2019.

A release from Winchester Co-Operative Bank:

Winchester Co-operative Bank has served its community and customers through a single office located in Winchester Center since it opened in 1893. After 125 years that’s about to change with the announcement that the Bank plans to open a new, full-service branch in Woburn in early 2019.

The new branch will be conveniently located at 198 Lexington Street in Woburn, an area known as Four Corners. This location will offer the same “co-operative” services as the Main Branch at 19 Church Street in Winchester, but adds both a drive-up ATM and drive-up teller window along with ample parking.

According to Mark H. Kellett, President & CEO of the Bank, the reason for the additional branch is a simple one. “We already serve many, many customers in Woburn, so bottom line, we’re opening this branch to provide greater convenience to those in Woburn and surrounding communities. It will also help us to maintain the high level of personal service that has been part of our reputation for 125 years. Overall, the new branch is a further demonstration of our commitment to Woburn. We have a long history of supporting local non-profits, including the Woburn Council of Social Concern and the North Suburban YMCA. So we are already firmly entrenched with the welfare of Woburn.”

Winchester Co-operative Bank has been a strong and stable institution since its inception in 1893. As of 2018, the Bank has grown to over $600 million in assets, generated through its one branch overlooking Winchester Common.

While additional branches are new territory for the Bank, Mr. Kellett believes its new Woburn branch will be a success. “We may not be experienced in Grand Openings,” he stated, “but we know our customers and their financial needs well. We’re confident that our new branch will be enthusiastically welcomed in Woburn.”
